    Managing Partner

    Mr. Hosea is one of the founders of the firm and serves as the Firm's President and chairs the Board of Directors and Managing Principals Group. His practice areas include trust and estate planning and administration as well as business law. His concentration is in the aspects of estate planning for business owners, including business succession planning. He focuses on coordinating planning with accountants and financial advisors and uses a team approach to provide a solution that uses true working knowledge of the individual situation and specialized business needs. Steve is diligent in taking into account all aspects of his client's situation to create a plan that helps business owners to grow and protect their investments, as well as prepare for future generations to continue the company legacy. In regard to the firm, Steve says that "as part of a multi-disciplinary law firm, we can bring to the table expertise in many business areas, including commercial real estate, franchising, land development and intellectual property. Through our work with clients, we have learned how a great variety of businesses operate; that breadth of background and knowledge is unusual for most estate planners." Steve attributes his success to the best piece of advice that he has received - "Do what you really love for a living." Since starting work at a young age in his father's contracting business, he has worked continuously through high school, college and law school, in a variety of businesses. He was a carpenter, laborer, a waiter, a bartender and even a gardener before he ever made a dollar as an attorney. Steve became an attorney to represent business owners like his parents. He truly knows and understands the value of hard work. He is passionate about his career and is dedicated in helping his clients protect the value within their individual organizations. Outside of the office, Steve is focused on his work as a board member for various charities and is currently assisting the Maryland Theater for the Performing Arts with the development of an arts center in Historic Annapolis.

    Mr. Jernigan grew up destined to be a businessman. He started working in his father's family business as a teenager where he worked his way up from the ground floor assisting in developing owner-occupied real estate. He founded Milton Jernigan & Associates, P.C., in 1982, and merged with McNamee Hosea in 1988. In addition, he has previously organized and directed the formation of two separate community banks over a 20 year period. Mick has substantial business and entrepreneurial experience that gives him an insider perspective and business-oriented approach to the needs of his clients. He has been very successful in developing not only his personal businesses, but also in ensuring the prosperity of this clients business ventures. In addition to his own success, Mick says that he "regards the success of my three children as being as important as my own. I am as proud of their accomplishments as anything else on my resume." Mick's practice areas include business and banking law, commercial real estate acquisition and development, mergers and acquisitions, business formations, finance and capitalization, and estates and trust planning and administration. He focuses on business and real estate advisory services and provides counsel and assistance to clients to achieve their business, real estate, estate planning and related goals and objectives.     Garth joined the firm in 1996 and was named Principal in 2001. He was added to the Managing Partners group in 2015. "His history with our firm and his management experience and expertise make him the ideal selection for this role as a Firm manager," says Stephen Hosea, McNamee Hosea's Co-Founder and President. In his real estate practice, Garth advises on the acquisition, financing, development and disposition of commercial and residential property, including joint ventures, leasing, commercial finance, purchase and sale, workout, and syndication transactions. He currently serves as the Manager of Renard Development Company, LLC, the developer of Greenbelt Station, a planned 4 million square foot mixed-use transit-oriented development located in Greenbelt, Maryland. Garth also advises business clients on entity formation and structure, corporate governance, strategic alliance, succession planning, equity-based compensation and other legal issues common to such businesses and has participated in a wide variety of mergers and acquisitions of small and mid-size businesses. Garth is a Manager and Co-Founder of Urban Bar-B-Que Systems and Vice Chairman of Ledo Pizza System, Inc., a 100 plus unit franchise system which his family founded and is headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland. When Garth is not out negotiating large business deals, he enjoys traveling outside of the U.S., fishing and watching the History Channel.
